Present to senior
Every case ends with a microphone. Finish the case, then give the presentation you would give at the board; the grader checks it against what the case showed and tells you what a senior would still want to hear.
The shape
- 1Identify. Age, gravidity and parity, gestational age (or postmenopausal status), and the one-line reason she is here.
- 2The story. Onset, course, the pertinent positives and negatives, the obstetric history that matters to this presentation.
- 3Examination. Maternal vital signs, the abdomen and fundal height, the cervix if examined, and the fetal status: heart rate, monitoring category, movements.
- 4Investigations. Only the results that change the assessment, with their frameworks named when the number depends on one.
- 5Assessment. Commit to a working diagnosis with the reasoning, and the two or three differentials you have not yet excluded.
- 6Plan. By problem, including what has been done, what is pending, and who has been called.
